ITTA BENA -- Things are starting to turn around for the Mississippi Valley State baseball team.
The Delta Devils (14-29, 10-11 SWAC) swept Tougaloo College on Tuesday to win its sixth straight, dating back to its historic win over Alabama on April 18. It marked the final home game of the season for the Delta Devils.
MVSU defeated the Bulldogs 12-4 in the series opener before upending Tougaloo 5-1 in the final game.
Game 1
Edmund Cheatham finished 2-for-3 and Joe Germaine (1-0) earned his first win of the season. The Delta Devils scored eight runs in its final two innings.
Luke Brumfield and Trey Lacy had a pair of RBIs for MVSU.
Game 2
The Delta Devils took advantage of five Bulldog errors and skated to a season-high sixth straight victory. Cam Harold (1-0) earned his first win of the season, allowing one earned run on two hits with three strikeouts.
Michael Lowe paced Valley with three hits and an RBI while Allen Cheek chipped in a pair of hits.
MVSU will be on the road at Alabama State this weekend. The teams will play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. on Saturday before closing out the series at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
