ITTA BENA – Six Mississippi Valley State football players have been recognized by the Southwestern Athletic Conference for their performances on the field during the 2012 season.

Keven Woods were named First Team All-SWAC. Meanwhile, running back
Brandon Stansell,
Javaris Fritz,
Marquez Floyd and
Carlos Hollis were tabbed Second Team All-SWAC.
Simpson, a junior Gulfport native, led the FCS in tackles for loss with 22.5 and ranked third in the SWAC in sacks with seven. He also recovered two fumbles and had 59 tackles.
Woods, a senior San Diego, Calif. native, ranked eighth in the conference in tackles (88) and had 5.5 sacks and four forced fumbles.
Brandon Stansell, a senior Rowland Heights, Calif. native, led MVSU with 757 rushing yards (4th in the SWAC) on 132 carries. He gained at least 100 yards on the ground in five out of 11 games.
Javaris Fritz, a senior Tarrant, Ala. native, racked up 43 tackles (13 for loss), 5.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.
Carolos Hollis, a senior Birmingham native, picked up 65 tackles (5.5 for loss), three interceptions, five pass breakups and a blocked kick.
Marquez Floyd, a senior from Shannon, had 48 tackles (40 solo) and 12 pass breakups (2nd in SWAC) to go with one fumble recovery.
